Soft stinky tofu




Stinky tofu can be cook in different way, fried, stewed, or steamed. While you visit Taiwan's Old Street Shenkeng Old Street, soft stinky tofu is famous here. There are more than five stores sold this famous food.

Method of producing
1. Prepare a brine made from milk, vegetables, and meat.
2. The brine can also include amaranth greens, mustard green, bamboo shoots, and Chinese herbs.
3. Cook for a while till the taste was sob by tofu

When you come to Taiwan, you can give it a chance to try.

Sun cake


Sun cake is a famous food from Taichung City. Its shape is round like sun. Originally, sun cake has malt stuffing only. With the improvement of food industry, also many people are creative and innovative; nowadays, there are many flavors of sun cakes, such as milk, honey, and taro, to name but a few.

I love to eat sun cake! I love to have dessert. You will have a good mood when you eat something sweet. When you are in a bad mood, have some sun cake and you will feel better. It is very delicious! If you like to eat something sweat, you must not miss this one! It is the sun cake. It is from Taichung City.

Dried tofu


Dried tofu is a famous food from Taoyuan City, Daxi District. I introduce this because I come from Taoyuan City and dried tofu from Daxi District is truly delicious! Many stores which sell dried tofu in Daxi District, producing dried tofu with no machine, all the dried tofu is handmade, this is one of the differences from other stores’ dried tofu.
I am so glad that I am from Taoyuan City, there are many delicious foods. I often have dried tofu as my dessert, they are really tasty! You must give it a try when you come to Taoyuan City. Do not forget that dried tofu is from Daxi District.

Mango Shaved Ice for Summer time in Taiwan

When the weather is hot, you must need a cold drink or ice cream to cold down the temperature. However, we have another choice in Taiwan. It is Bao Bing, shaved ice (剉冰). And we also put the season fruits and sugar syrup as topping to make the flavor.
 Ice Monster is a legend for shaved ice. The store is located at Yong Kang Street and make their own style for mango shaved ice. Fresh mango, mango syrup, mango ice cream, and shaved ice at bottom. This dessert is recommended by different guide book on Taipei. You must not to miss this dessert while you travel to Taiwan in summer time.

Beef Noodle Soup

The history of Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is not far back; however, the Beef noodle soup is universal in Taiwan after the World War 2. Taiwanese beef noodle has two flavors, one is clear stewed and the other one is braised. The clear stewed beef noodle is trending light, and the braised beef noodle is trending salty. In Taiwan, most of people prefer the braised beef noodle which is main stream.

Furthermore, besides the clear stewed beef noodle and the braised, the beef noodle can be separated into different kinds of flavor.
For example, beef brisket noodle, half tendon half meat noodle, beef offal noodle, beef tendon noodle and so on.
There is an annual Beef Noodle Festival is held by Taipei City. And this festival attracts various chefs and restaurants compete for the “best beef noodle” title in Taiwan every year.
There are some famous restaurants, like Regent Taipei, Yong Kang Beef Noodle, Lin Don Fang Beef Noodle, Olddon Beef Noodle, Lao Zhang Beef Noodle, Pin Chuan Lan Beef Noodle and so on. And the Regent Taipei is a multiple-award at the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival.

Pineapple cake is one of the famous Taiwanese pastries. It’s crumbly, fragrant crust and the chewy. And it is nice as the dessert for both young and old. The meaning of pineapple in Taiwanese stands for lucky and happiness. Therefore, when it comes to every Taiwanese festival, pineapple cake is nice souvenir for families, friends or clients.
The main ingredient of pineapple cake is not pineapple but winter melon. It is for the chewy tasting, and most of people are used to its flavor. However, Taiwanese people don’t know that the main ingredient is winter melon. The shape of pineapple cake is various from big circle to cartoon form. Since 1999, Taipei Pineapple Cake Cultural Festival made many store famous and created economical miracle. Therefore, Pineapple cake as one of the impression of Taipei City.
There are some famous stores in Taiwan, like CHIA TE, SunnyHills, WU PAO CHUN BAKERY, Howsweet, Sunny99 and so on.

Century Egg

      Known also as preserved egg, hundred-year egg, thousand-year egg, thousand-year-old egg, or millennium egg, the Century Egg is a delicacy in China, where the recipe originated six hundred years ago. 


      Century Eggs are known for an exceptionally taste and odor which is reminiscent of sulfur or ammonia; however, most of the strong smell and taste comes from the yolk. In Taiwan, we call century egg “Pidan”. It is a duck, chicken, or quail egg that has been preserved in a mixture of clay, ash, lime, salt, and traditional medicines for several weeks or even months, depending on the process or method used. Through the process, the yolk will turn dark green or gray and the white will become a brown, translucent jelly.

    

      Some people do not want to try until they smell the yolk of Century Egg, but for me, I really like to eat century egg!! One news from CNN iReport ever sail that Century Egg is the most revolting food in the world, but I don’t think so. Well, maybe, one's delight may not necessarily be to another's taste. Most foreigners really think the Century Egg most disgusting and revolting....

Taiwanese Meatballs

        Pronounced ba wan in the Taiwanese Hokkein dialect, Taiwanese Meatballs is the dish which is glutinous dumpling-like ball wrapped around a fistful of minced pork, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and other ingredients. Its outer wrapper is made of tapioca flour, rice powder, potato starch, and waterwhich gives it a translucent and gelatinous bubble like texture. It’s served with a generous heaping of sweet chili sauce which can be a mixture of ketchup, sugar, and chili powder.


      Ba wan is one of the Taiwanese unique delicious dishes. Though it originates from the Beitou area of Taiwan and is initially sold by street vendors, now Changhua and Hsinchu are the most favorite places for Taiwanese Meatballs. Actually, the Meatballs are served in two waysfried and steamed. Most of Meatballs in Changhua are deep-fried, while those in Hsinchu are steamed.

   

       For example, one Taiwanese Meatballs specialty shop, “A-Chang Taiwanese Meatballs” in Changhua, which is founded in 1948, has become even more famous in recent years. Compared to the Taiwanese Meatballs of other shops, those made at here are fried, and hence the outer layer radiates a golden and pristine color. It is said that the outer layer is chewy and tasty, and the stuffing inside feels neither greasy nor oily. I’ve never ate Taiwanese Meatballs there, but I really want to go there and try some.

    The story in Dynasty of Ming and Ching,孟波 wants to let his mom to taste the delicious pork, he thinks of his mom pounded the way of glurtinous rice. In this way, he bit pork into meatballs. Food Ingredients: lean meat, fat meat, eggs, ginger.


     How to make it? First, put meatballs into pot after a pot of water is boiling. ( Before you put in, you can cut a cross with knife on meatballs.) In the way, your meatballs will boiled quickly.




     Meatball soup is one of my favorite Taiwanese food. When I was little, there is always a pot of meatball soup on table in order to offer sacrifice to our ancestors.

      Taiwanese has the name of "Kingdom of    Fruit". Formosa Papayahas been popular  worldwide. Having a cup of papaya milk to forthcoming summer is a great way for you.What's the specialty of it?

     Papaya milk is good for you. There are    countless advantages of eating  papayas.  First, It helps your digestion. Second, stop your cough. Third, against cancers and prevent becoming old. Forth, Lower your blood-pressure. 

    No matter on quality or on taste, it gets lots of praises. This kind of fruit is that you  can buy them in four seasons. It is benefit to  your stomach and intestine, also its price is not  high. It’s a kind of fruit that is grandeur, but it is not experience.It’s easy to make a cup of papaya milk by yourself.
